Business Benefits

Keep visitors on your site, increase conversions, and boost sales.

Use universally recognizable icons such as a shopping cart icon or magnifying glass icon, instead of Shop and Search, respectively.

You can replace product categories with icons that represent them. For example, a TV screen icon for TVs, a laptop icon for laptops, etc.

Make your brand logo clickable so that it sends visitors back to your homepage - keep it always in the top left corner as a Safety button.

Use distinct cursor and color changes to make them visible when hovering over a link.

Make the colors of links change after being used by the visitor. For example, if your links are typically blue, you can mark the clicked ones with red.

Place the main navigation horizontally across the top of the page or vertically down the page’s left side.

Go with a horizontal menu unless you have many items. In that case, choose the vertical one.

Create a drop down menu for all your categories, subcategories, and sub-subcategories.

  • If your drop-down menu is too long, break it down into smaller chunks.
  • Use large two-dimensional drop-down panels, which can group options and avoid scrolling.
  • Use tooltips to explain each category further and add icons to make them more distinct.

Use a single group of letters and colors for your content menus and another for your transactional menus to create a distinction between them.

Use a maximum of two words for your navigation buttons for better understanding and familiarity.

You can keep long descriptions for the product description section.

Create a fixed main navigation bar, the same on every page at any given moment, and keep it at the top at all times.

It gives users a sense of familiarity and security, especially if your ecommerce store has lots of items and information.

Wat is a transactional menu and a content menu?

Hi @Neal Oddens

The two menus refer to the site’s pages (content menu) or the site’s product list (transactional menu).
