Track blog conversions in Google Data Studio

Business Benefits

Visualize data and optimize conversions and content for better performance.

Go to Google Data Studio and select Add Data > Google Analytics, then select the analytics account you want to use, the Property, and All Data.

You should create goals to track in Google Analytics before adding data to Google Data Studio.

Select Insert > Time Series Chart to add a time series chart to your dashboard.

Under the Data Tab, choose the Dimension and Metrics you want to track.

Choose metrics that are related to the content you are tracking, for example, sessions, downloaded content, or page views if you were using pages.

Select Create Field under the Data Tab to create your own conversion rate metric.

If you set up goals correctly in Google Analytics, you should already have this option under Metric.

  1. Enter the name of your metric (CVR).
  2. Enter the Formula: For example, Downloaded Content Offer (Goal 1) / Sessions
  3. Choose the Type as Percentage.
  4. Select Apply.

Create a filter if your website has specific URL prefixes just for blog content, for example /blog/.

  1. Go to Filter
  2. Enter the name, like Blog.
  3. Select your filters such as Include > Landing Pages > Contain > /blog/

Click on the Time Series Chart and repeat the same dimensions, metrics, and filters to popular data on the chart.

Copy and paste your Time Series Chart to track different metrics such as conversion rate.

You can use extra charts to visualize different metrics based on what your needs are.

Track organic data by creating a Filter, entering the name, selecting Includes > Default Channel Medium > Contains > Organic Search and select Save.

Select Add a Control > Date Range Control to track data over specific time periods.
