Business Benefits

Build an efficient linking campaign.

Identify your competitors by searching for the product or service that you offer or typing in the main target keyword.

  • Search for competing keywords only or run a complete backlink analysis. Your competitors can be an entire domain or just a SERP talking about a product or service in the industry you operate in.
  • Use market data such as sales and market share to prioritize your main competitors.

Sign up with Ahrefs to access their Site Explorer.

Find your competitors’ backlinks in Site Explorer and record the total number of backlinks and referring domains - enter the URL and click Analyze.

Scan through the referring domains and note the ones that are relevant to your business to find backlink opportunities.

These are all the websites pointing to your competitor’s site.

Record backlinks from the Historical Index section if you want to reach out to as many people as possible.

The historical section allows you to see the history of backlinks built to the site. Scan through all the links to see opportunities for relevant sites to link to your site.

Record backlinks that have provided the most business growth in the New and Lost Referring Domains and Backlinks graphs.

Take note of high DR links pointing to your competitors’ sites.

Record new and well-performing content pages by your competitors that you can source information from or link to.

Click on top pages to see your competitor’s top performing content pages.

Read the Referring Domains and Referring IPs reports to identify and record which sites are bringing the highest amount of traffic.

Use filters to narrow down the results to get a list of referring domains that bring in unique traffic or the ones that bring in quality leads. You can also narrow down the country that the majority of the traffic is coming from.

Use Anchors, Internal Backlinks, and Intersect reports to get insight into your competitor’s content marketing strategy.

Go over the information generated to gain inspiration for your own content strategy and link building campaign.
