Visually break down your success metrics and easily understand the proportions between them.
Example metrics: profit, revenue, unit sales, conversions, and leads.
This will turn your visualization into a blue circle.
Find the data dimension that you want to break down in your pie chart and drag it to the color mark.
For example, you might want to understand how particular regions contribute to the total of a metric. So you would drag Region from the side toolbar to the color mark. Some other examples of common pie chart visualizations are breaking down revenue by product name, and breaking down leads by traffic source.
In the drop-down menu in the top navigation select entire view for maximal pie chart size.
Add data labels by finding the same data dimension and metric you used earlier and dragging both to the text mark.
If you want to show percentage of total instead of absolute numbers for your selected metric, double-click the green pill with your metric under Marks, and select Quick table calculation and then Percentage of total.
Include a reference to the metrics and dimensions represented in the view so that it’s easier to find in the future. Some examples are:
- Product revenue.
- Country share as percentage of total.
- Unit sales.
- Broken down by product name.
