Measure the performance of your website and gain insights into traffic.
Create a Google Analytics account and then create a property.
Click on Show advanced options and select only, Create a universal analytics property.
Copy your Google Analytics tracking code.
Once you accept the terms and conditions the tracking code will be displayed on the next page, or you can also retrieve it later using the following instructions:
- Log in to Google Analytics and click on Admin.
- Go to the Account column, then to the Property column and select a property from the menu.
- Under Property, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code.
- The tracking code will be available on this page.
Add tracking code to your website
Copy and paste the above code after the tag of every page on your website or ask your developer if unsure. If you use content management systems like WordPress, Squarespace or ecommerce platforms like Shopify, refer to the specific instructions there.
Verify if your tracking code is working.
Log in to Google Analytics. In the left navigation bar, go to Real time > Overview. If you see active users on your site, your tracking code is working.
