Connect ecommerce store with analytics software

Track a user’s buying journey and gain insights into the performance of each step in the funnel.


Open the eCommerce Settings dashboard in Google Analytics.

  1. Log in to your Google Analytics Account.
  2. Select the desired account and property that you want to connect with your ecommerce store.
  3. Click on Admin at the bottom of the side menu.
  4. Navigate to the view you want to enable for ecommerce connection.
  5. Click on Ecommerce Settings in the View column.

Set Enable Ecommerce and Enable Enhanced Ecommerce Reporting to ON, then copy the tracking ID Google Analytics will use to identify your website.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Go back to Admin > Property Settings.
  3. Copy the tracking ID that starts with UA-.

To set up analytics in Shopify, paste the GA tracking ID into the Google Analytics Account field and enable Use Enhanced Ecommerce.

  1. Go to Online Store > Preferences in Shopify.
  2. In the Google Analytics section, paste the tracking ID you copied earlier into the Google Analytics Account field.
  3. Tick the Use Enhanced Ecommerce checkbox.
  4. Click Save.

To set up analytics in WooCommerce, install the Woocommerce for Google Analytics extension.

Go to Settings > Integrations and look for Google Analytics in the Integration section. If it is not listed:

  1. Go to the Extensions section and search for Google Analytics.
  2. Click on Woocommerce for Google Analytics and install the extension.

Enable Use Global Site Tag and Enable Universal Analytics and select the events you want to track.

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations and select Google Analytics.
  2. Tick Use Global Site Tag.
  3. Tick Enable Universal Analytics.
  4. Add the domain name for your website.
  5. Select all events that you want to track in Google Analytics, like purchase transactions and add to cart events.
  6. Click Save.
