Analyze and break down data to get a deep understanding of your campaign performance.


Analyze campaign level performance.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Amount Spent to sort the campaign descending by the advertising cost.
  3. Check the Results and Cost per results column.
  4. Make sure you compare the campaigns with the same objectives. For example, if your campaign objective is Conversions and you use Purchase a conversion in multiple campaigns, compare these campaigns to each other.
  5. Identify the campaigns with the best performance; highest number of results, lowest cost per result.
  6. Identify the campaigns with the worst performance; low number of results or high cost per results.

Analyze the ad sets in the best performing campaigns.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on the best performing campaigns to get to the ad set level.
  3. Click on Amount Spent to sort the campaign descending by the advertising cost.
  4. Check the Results and Cost per results column.
  5. Identify the ad sets with the best performance; highest number of results, lowest cost per result.
  6. Check the targeting in these ad sets to understand which audience drives the best performance.

Analyze the ad sets in the worst performing campaigns.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on the best performing campaigns to get to the ad set level.
  3. Click on Amount Spent to sort the campaign descending by the advertising cost.
  4. Check the Results and Cost per results column
  5. Identify the campaigns with the worst performance; lowest number of results, low cost per result.
  6. Check the audience targeting in these ad sets to understand which audience drives the worst performance.

Analyze which ad creatives resonate with your audience.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Ads.
  3. Analyze the CTR column to understand which ads are most and least engaging to your users.
  4. Check the Results and Cost per results column to find which ads are most and least effective in driving conversions.

Segment the results to understand the performance of Facebook and Instagram platforms.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Breakdown.
  3. Click on By Delivery.
  4. Click on Platform to see the breakdown of your data into Facebook and Instagram.
  5. Look at the Results and Cost per results column to understand which of the two platforms, Facebook or Instagram, delivers better results.

Segment the results to understand the performance of different ad placements.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Breakdown.
  3. Click on By Delivery.
  4. Click on Placements to see the breakdown of your data into different placements on Facebook and Instagram. For example, Instagram Stories, Facebook; News Feed and Marketplace.
  5. Look at the Results and Cost per results column to understand which placements deliver better results.

Breakdown your campaign performance data by age and gender of users.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Breakdown.
  3. Click on By Delivery.
  4. Click on Age & Gender to break down the data accordingly.
  5. Check the Results and Cost per results columns to identify the demographics that work best for you.

Breakdown your campaign performance data by the time of the day.

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Click on Breakdown.
  3. Click on By delivery.
  4. Click on Time of day to break down the data accordingly.
  5. Check the Results and Cost per results columns to identify the times of the day with the best performance.

perhaps should be : campaign performance data by age and gender of users.
