Business Benefits

Increase engagement and reach more users.

Choose a cloud livestreaming platform that supports multi-stream broadcasts.

Some options are:

  • Dacast: Easy to use with high-end features and competitive pricing plans with ad-free broadcasting.
  • Brightcove: Features detailed analytics and video marketing tools. Includes custom video portals.
  • JW Player: Simple, easy-to-use platform with good advertising tools.
  • Vimeo Livestream: No ads, unlimited events and viewers, detailed analytics.

Register an account in your name and select a livestream plan based on your production budget. Check that your display name is identical on all platforms, so your viewers will recognize you in each video.

Obtain all the hardware and equipment you’ll need for your livestream. Check your livestream platform for specific requirements.

Basic requirements for livestreaming include:

  • Reliable and high-speed internet connectivity. This is crucial since viewers will leave if there is frequent video buffering and freezing.
  • A computer, tablet, smartphone, or webcam with the capacity to record and stream high definition audio and video.
  • An external microphone like a Blue Yeti for crisp audio sound while speaking to your viewers.
  • An artificial lighting source such as a selfie ring light or softbox lights where natural lighting is not sufficient.
  • Backdrop kit or a digital virtual background from your broadcasting software.
  • A tripod to secure the camera for a hands-free, steady video.

Set up your broadcasting environment by choosing a location where your audio will not compete with other background sounds. Wear plain, solid colors, and position lights and camera.

  • If you are not using a background kit, pick a place with minimal visual distractions in the background.
  • Place the lighting where it will shine on you directly and evenly.
  • Position the camera at eye level, not too close to your face.

Check that your equipment and software are functioning without any issues by doing a practice video.

Log in to your livestream platform and follow your platform instructions for multistreaming. Review the stream to check for audio and video quality.

Go live after your equipment and software checks are done, and your practice video is clear without audio or video issues.

Save the video and the link to it when you have finished the livestream so that it is readily available for replay and distribution. You can do this on social media sites or from your streaming software.

Facebook prompts you before the livestream where to save the video after it ends. On Twitter, copy the direct link to the Tweet that contains your video and include it where you are promoting the video. Follow the directions on your multistreaming platform to download the video for distribution.

Repurpose your livestream to get the most use from your new piece of content.

  • Use a video editing tool like Online Video Cutter to find 10-20 second quotable clips to post on Instagram.
  • Share your livestream video with your email list.
  • Embed your video into a blog post with supporting text.
  • Add it as a featured video on your Facebook Page.
